3 stars or 5? It was hard to decide. I hated that the book description told the story up to around 80% of the book. It would have been nice to have some surprises during that first 80% of the book. But there weren't any. Then at 80% the story got a little slow and boring. Only the last 5% or so of the book was "new" and interesting again. I wouldn't normally give more than 3 stars for this. However... for some strange reason I could not put the book down. Even though I knew what was going to happen all the way until the 80% mark, I had to keep reading. It was well written, and I concluded that it was not the book itself that was the cause of my problems but the book description. DO NOT READ THE BOOK DESCRIPTION! :) I'm serious. The description contains spoilers that will ruin your reading. It's a great book if you don't know what's going to happen ahead of time!

Rebirth eBook David Maxwell Reviews
"unexpected ending".
I'm not one to give a synopsis of a book in a review. I just give my reasons for liking it or not. This was a "not." Initially it kept my interest even though the characters seemed a little flat. Then the computer was too stereotypical and the story line became predictable. The couple unexpected twists weren't enough to make this a worthwhile read. I barely skimmed the last few chapters just to get to the end. Yep...predictable.
I bought this book via my kindle so I just saw the title and the summary, thinking it was a sci-fi thriller I got a sample. I should have taken a look at the cover and I would have realized this was a romantic novel, located in some futuristic setting.
Since personally I can't stand romantic novels "his-arms-are-so-strong" kind of, I simply didn't read further the moment I realized it was that type of book.
The positive thing I can say is that the plot was interesting and the writer was good at describing the situations and the characters, however the moment this "love story" started, the story was demeaning for women, picturing the female character as weak, dependent and somehow dumb.
I didn't read further, as I said, because I am not interested in this type of book, thus my review is based on about 1/4 of the book.
This was an interesting read. Starts out really good the takes a left turn and gets really weird. Highly recommend👍👍
Artemis is the protector, guide, historian computer when Abigail awakes from her long sleep. He sees and hears everything in Eden. However, nothing is quite what it seems.
What do you get if you take the AI from "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream" by Harlan Ellison, and put in on the ship from the movie Pandoricum. I think you would get something very similar to this novel.
From the beginning this novel certainly had me guessing.
From the "reality" of Eden, and what it actually is, to the purpose of the "staff" there's enough in here to keep you wondering.
And the ending certainly shocked me in it's way.
Love the science fiction mystery presented here. This story had me guessing what the true nature the of Eden habitat was, what enigmatic presence were the reborn really interacting with, was this an experiment? Had the earth been destroyed? Had a couple billion years transpired before the rebirth? These are the questions the reader is challenged to figure out as this story steadily builds tension and leaves breadcrumbs of subtle clues throughout. Intriguing and mysterious, well done.
