Unfortunately, there was not a single moment that I was able to forget that I was being told a story. Some reviewers liked that aspect of the writing; I did not. I want to live and breathe a story, to see it play out on the screen of my mind, to be swept up in it, not to feel like I'm listening to a summary of the latest film as told by the neighbor's precocious teen drama queen. The story might be interesting and the writing isn't actively BAD. But let's face it: there aren't many authors that can pull off the use of the word "whilst" without sounding like a pretentious romance. Needless to say, this is not one of the successes.

The Eye of Erasmus Erasmus the Omnipotent Teresa Geering John Piggott 9781453634752 Books Reviews

I thought I would be in a really great story since the beginning was great. It started by building the main character. That was chapter 1...the following chapters were just plain crap...the author seems to be lost...probably needs a GPS to point him to the right direction. The story fell off a cliff right after. I decided not to continue after chapter 3.
It held my attention, but lacked with the end. Very detailed & vivid suspensusful but predictable. I am unsure if there are other books that continue off with this story, from what I read this was the end of the story.
I couldn't get into this. I didn't feel like there was enough description of the characters to feel anything for them. Reading this story was like watching a football game on TV using a telescope - you pick up detail from far away, but can't get enough detail to really feel any emotion for what is happening.
Couldn't believe how much I enjoyed reading this. Delightful fantasy, and a real bargain at the current price of 99c. Reviewers before me have summarised the story better than I could, so please excuse this skimpy yet enthusiastic endorsement of a wonderful tale.

Am now immersed in Shasta Summer, part of Teresa Geering's fine Merlin/Shasta/Erasmus collection. Equally recommended.
The characters all have an ethereal quality, magic and mystery abounds in this book.
Beautiful descriptive passages, putting you right in every scene.
For those who love fantasy with a twist, that I didn't see coming, you'll find this story difficult to put down until you reach the end.
I read it in one sitting, and look forward to reading the next in the series.Shasta Summer.
A thoroughly enjoyable read.
This is the worst book I have ever read. All the characters are overpowered or mary sues. Erasmus gets violently angry for no reason and ruins everything. This book's only plot points are that things happen just because they can.
I downloaded this book for free some time ago and finally got around to reading it. It is a short novella, roughly 130 pages. While other readers commented that they didn't like the prose format of the book, it didn't bother me. However, what really bothered me was the overall story and plot. It didn't feel like a love story and you're left feeling empty at the end because of the tragic ending. It also left me with a lot of open questions. What happens to Shasta or Hesper or Merlin? Perhaps the author meant for readers to read the sequels. If the ending was done more tastefully like other cliffhangers, I'd be more interested in continuing on with the series, except I won't be...
