Imogen and Blake are two cute characters you'd want to meet. I love their interactions with each other, it wasn't rushed but it wasn't slow either. I liked that they didn't kiss until the end, that seldom happens in books anymore. I liked that this story can be read within minutes and left a lasting impression on me. And what really impressed me the most, the lesson in the end about life and the value of living in it.

Karli Perrin's short stories are adorable, a little naughty on the side and a whole lotta nice and everything spice. I enjoyed The Book Boyfriend, and this - The Gift, and I want more! I need to read her other book The Honey Trap which had some of my friends raving. If a short story like The Gift had me grinning like a Cheshire, how much more when I get to read her longer novels? I can't wait!

Great book
I so loved this story I was smiling all the way through out reading. I also yelled at my iPad and had tears because when the writing is great like Karli I get lost in the book.

So do yourself a favour and fall in love with another perfect book boyfriend Blake and have yourself a bit of Christmas Magic.
The synopsis says this "is intended to be a quick, fun and flirty read" and it definitely was! With an emphasis on the flirty. This really brought a smile to my face. I loved the characters and the story. Nice, quick Christmas read with lots of fun banter.
This was a really quick, really cute story about two people living in the moment. Their union began by chance and took off. I know it was a short read but I so wanted more. I still want to know what Imogen meant in the beginning when she said everyone was counting down except her. Hopefully there's more coming. I enjoyed it!
Cute and sweet! I wish all first dates and potential soulmates happened like this. Kind of want to know how the second date went .
This is a very short holiday read.

Imogen and Blake meet (very cute/funny first meeting) and flirt. They meet again and the flirting continues. They were both funny, sweet and charming. I thought it was a really cute Christmas read.

Then I get to chapter 5 (out of 6 chapters) with less than 5 minutes in the book, and there's a big dramatic moment that comes out of nowhere. It didn't fit at all with the tone of the rest of the book, and there wasn't enough time after that to address the issue. It just seemed really strange.

So, what would have been a 4 star read turned into a 3 star read for me.
THE GIFT by Karli Perrin is a short and sweet Christmas themed New Adult Romance. It’s a short story, only 38pgs (on my kindle), but still manages to deliver a good romance. THE GIFT tells a sort of meet-cute romance where we’re introduced to Imogene and Blake, two college students, and watch them fall for each other during the holidays. It’s fun to read the banter between the two, the light teasing and flirtation.

I did have a couple ‘huh?’ moments… The story starts out in the present, with just a few lines, and then takes us back to a year ago, where it truly takes places. I don’t feel that this was necessary, as in the end, we’re not brought back to the present. The second moment takes place towards the end and felt as if it came out of nowhere. It may have been added to affirm the feelings of the couple, but I don’t feel that it was required.

While this is a novella, I didn’t find it lacking nor did I need it to be longer. I will say, that I would gladly read another story where I get to find out more about Imogene and Blake and see how they are doing, though. I will definitely be checking out other reads by Ms. Karli Perrin.

This is a novella that I would recommend if you are short on time, but in the mood for a light and romantic holiday read.
